The liners and medium that make up the corrugated sheet are both forms of paperboard.Paperboard is made primarily from cellulose fibers found in wood. The fibers are held togetherbylignin. Fibers are separated from the wood in one of three ways: mechanical, chemical, &semi chemical. Mechanical involves chipping and grinding the wood into increasingly smallerunits. Chemical separation, or pulping, uses sulfite or sulfate to dissolve the lignin. This is alsoknown as theKraft process. This method produces the highest yields with the least damage tofibers, thus the strongest paper. The semi-chem process combines the mechanical and thechemical methods.Linerboard is the paperboard used as the inner and outer facings of a corrugated sheet. It is madeprimarily through the chemical process. It is usually made from softwoods like Pine trees thathave the longest fibers and produce the strongest board. Medium is the fluted paperboard thatis in between the inner andouter facings. It is produced mainly from hardwoods that have shorterfibers through the semi-chem process.Linerboard and medium are also made from recycled resources. Lumber byproducts like sawdustand wood chips constitute approximately 10% of the fibersupply. Recycled paper providesapproximately 25%.The fibers are separated from wood or recovered through recycling processes and cleaned. Liquidpaper then flows onto a moving wire screen. Water drains through the wire until it hits thedrylinewhere apaper mat is formed. The paper is cycled through the paper machine where it isfurther dried, compressed, and wound into large rolls that are shipped to customers thatmanufacture corrugated sheets

Printing on corrugated to many customers has become as important an element in packagedesign as protection. There are a variety of different ways to apply graphics to corrugatedboard.The main three are flexography, lithography, and digital printing.Flexography offers printing advantages but requires certain levels of volume before it can beconsidered an option.Lithography quality graphics can be incorporated into corrugatedpackaging in 2 ways, eitherthrough single-face laminating or labeling the combined board. Both result in high qualitygraphics with bright colors and sharp resolution.Digital printing is the most recently developed printing technology. Graphics from a digitalcomputer file are transmitted directly to a printer that plots the graphics onto the corrugatedboard. This eliminates the need for printing plates. However because it is a time consumingprocess digital printing is used primarily for short runs of high graphics.

Measuring boxes is as easy as 1-2-3.Box measurements always correspond to the innerdimensions of the box. This is done to ensure a snug and protective fit around your product.Simply measure thelength, width,anddepth(or height) of what you would like to pack andexpress the measurements in milimetres. Make sure to give the dimensions in this order:1.length2.width3.depthAllow a minimum of 3mm extra to each dimension for the fitting . Be sure that the lengthand width do correspond to the opening of the box.You can also provide us with a board size of the box. To do this fully open out the cartonuntil it is just a single flat sheet and measure the length and width of the board. This boardsize is very usefulwhen quoting for die cut boxes.
